Transboundary Waters: I recently wrote an opinion piece with Dale Kelly of Alaska Trollers Assoc. We submitted it to the Juneau Empire, the Vancouver Sun and Fishermen’s News. In the Empire: http://juneauempire.com/opinion/2015-09-15/my-turn-can-bc-protect-southeast This article talks about pollution coming from the Tulsequah Chief Mine that was recognized when B.C.’s Minister Bennett was in Juneau last month: http://www.alaskapublic.org/2015/09/15/can-b-c-stop-tulsequah-chief-mine-pollution/

SE Planning Team: This important task force is meeting Dec 2-3 in Sitka and USAG will be there to advocate for your gillnet needs! Here’s a quote from the announcement followed by a link to the full announcement.  “Agendas for the seine and gillnet meetings will be developed in cooperation between the department and the Southeast Alaska Seiners Association, the United Southeast Alaska Gillnetters Association, the Southeast Alaska Fishermen’s Alliance, and the Petersburg Vessel Owners Association. Individuals with suggested topics for discussion should contact these organizations or the department. In order to finalize the agenda, please submit suggested topics by November 9.” Let us know ASAP if you have topics! http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/static/applications/dcfnewsrelease/618341361.pdf
